Year 7 and 8 Camp 2021

Posted: 31st October 2021

Finally, after a long wait due to the pandemic, we were able to camp again!!

This event seemed especially desirable this year, following 18 months of bubbles, lockdowns and so many restrictions preventing us to create some true bonding moments with our friends and colleagues.

Now we had the ideal opportunity in a safe outdoor environment where we could relax, play and eat, to spend valued time with each other.

The event this year seemed more chilled than ever. The pupils organised themselves into their preferred sleeping abodes and (mostly) managed to put up the tents without a hitch! Team-work box ticked.

The plan for the evening was led by the pupils who were keen to participate in the usual activities provided on previous camps but also to have time to ‘chill’.

No camp is successful without food and, thanks to Mr Makhouli, we all enjoyed a most delicious BBQ meal followed by some fun wide-games in the dark finishing the evening sitting round an amazing campfire (thanks Mrs O’Neil), singing songs (thank you for the operatic version Mr Tier) and eating smores.

All was well and some pupils slept. Some chose to chat…. and chat….. and chat a little bit more!! Definitely some interesting expressions on the faces at breakfast the following morning including the staff!!

The event was concluded with the most amazing French Café breakfast with cereal and French pastries and the parents were invited to join us.

Another great activity enjoyed by all. Thanks must go to all the members of staff who gave up their time both on Friday evening and all night to Saturday morning and especially to Mrs Harvey for co-ordinating the event.
