What made you want to become a teacher?
I was privileged to have teachers who helped me see what I was capable of and inspire me to achieve beyond what I thought was possible. Therefore, I have always felt it is my duty to help inspire others. Unlocking the potential of every child and making sure they feel valued for who they are is my guiding principle. If I can help children as I was helped, I will have given back.
What inspires you and what you do?
Children are an endless inspiration. Their ability to see the world in unique and creative ways challenges my own thinking. Giving the gift of knowledge to children and the skills to use it for the common good and their own self actualisation, helps fuel my work everyday.
What do you love most about Skippers?
Childhood is precious and fleeting. Our children get one shot at school. Skippers gives children caring and expert teachers. A natural environment that inspires them and helps them belong. It provides them with a community and the confidence to seize the opportunities presented to them as they grow up. Every child at Skippers is an individual and valued for who they are.
What do you enjoy doing outside of school?
I am an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction. Reading helps to broaden one’s perspective and expand the limits of the mind. Sport is another passion, particularly Rugby and Football. I enjoy the community and support given by belonging to a sports club. My family and I care for the school goats, Elvis and Flapjack and enjoy being surrounded by nature. A good walk is the cure for most ills!
