What led you to teaching?
If I am completely honest, I have always wanted to be a teacher. There were other career paths that I dabbled in, but I always came back to teaching. As a teenager I ran lunchtime clubs for the younger children in my school and helped out at my local primary. I think from a young age it was always my vocation in life.

What inspires you and what you do?
I have met so many teachers, through my own schooling and career, and I truly believe that teaching is a privilege and we are very lucky to be in the career we are in. It is so important to know each child in your class, what they enjoy, what they dislike, what makes them feel proud and areas in which they need guidance and support. I love the excitement in September of meeting your new class and then being part of their journey over the next 10 months. There is no greater feeling than looking back and seeing how far they’ve come, all their hard work, and the adventures along the way.

What do you love most about Skippers?
For me, I think Skippers should be described as a truly magical place. You don’t need to be in the building for long to be able to feel and see the fun, friendship and learning that pulses through the school. Everybody is made to feel so welcome, it really is a Skippers Family.

If you weren’t a teacher what would you do?
If I wasn’t a teacher, I think I would probably be in PR or Marketing. However, I do love music, especially singing. I do have a reputation for knowing a ridiculous amount of song lyrics as well as being the first person on the dance floor and the last person to leave. So maybe a career in music. If I’m honest I wouldn’t swap my 18 year teaching career for the world.
