What led you to teaching?
I have a true passion for working with young people and helping each child progress in all areas of their development, it’s a challenge that is exciting and very rewarding. I always strive to create a community of learners that nurtures this growth in a positive environment.
What inspires you and what you do?
First and foremost a love of children draws me to teaching every day and there is always an opportunity where I am eager to make a difference. The beauty is that there is an opportunity every day to do this in so many ways.
What do you love most about Skippers?
I love the family vibe that runs across the whole school, everything from the school itself and what goes on inside, to the teaching and support staff. It’s so friendly and supportive and each day is filled with fun. The entire community is connected by a shared ethos where the children are at the heart of everything we do. The consistent dedication, commitment and one to one interest shown by all of my colleagues is wonderful. The campus is also stunning and if ever there was a view to make you feel at ease then the Skippers view just does that!
What is one of my proudest achievements?
In a previous school I worked with a group of young footballers from the age of 14 which became a project that culminated with them being English National Champions in their last year of senior school. So many lessons were learnt over the journey and each and every one of us grew and developed to then reach our set goal of winning the English Schools U18 championship. It demonstrated what could be done with vision, hard work and a strong team ethic.
