Ruth Walker

What led you to teaching?
I have worked with children for many many years in so many different roles, firstly at a local leisure centre helping with the swimming lessons and running the holiday clubs, where I gained my coaching qualifications in trampolining and gymnastics.
I gained my Level 3 NVQ in Children’s Care, Learning and Development before starting at Skippers. I started working here in the evenings making the school sparkle, then took on the role of matron. Now I am a Teaching Assistant in our wonderful kindergarten finally putting my qualifications to good use.

What inspires you?
Every child that I have the privilege to work alongside and look after inspires me every day. A child’s ability to soak up information, and to learn and develop at such an amazing rate is just wonderful to witness. I have the opportunity to watch each child grow into an amazing individual as they make their way up the school.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
In my spare time I enjoy lots of outdoor adventures with my son and husband, walking, cycling or having picnics by the sea.

What do you love about Skippers?
Skippers has always had a really great family feel with all the staff supporting one another which ever department you have the privilege to work in.
