What led you to teaching?

My degree in Psychology ignited a strong interest in childhood development where I explored and researched many theories for supporting children in their developmental journey. Children have such enthusiasm and zest for learning which has always inspired me to want to facilitate and shape their journeys through school with positive and memorable experiences. After finishing my degree, I became a Teaching Assistant at a local primary school which cemented my passion for teaching. I completed my SCITT course the year after and became a qualified primary school teacher.

What inspires you and what you do?

Being a teacher has formed a huge part of my identity. From the moment the children arrive at school with their endearing smiles and enthusiasm, to the moment they leave at home time, I am filled with a real sense of purpose and positivity. Nurturing each child through successes and obstacles, no matter how big or small, always feels like an almighty accomplishment and fills me with such pride. I was also lucky enough to have received an extremely positive primary school education and I feel that having the opportunity to bring the same level of inspiration to future generations is a true privilege.

What do you love most about Skippers?

Having attended Skippers myself as a pupil I know what a fantastic, friendly school it is with a very strong sense of family community at its heart. Returning to Skippers as a teacher has reaffirmed this and it is so great to be part of such a happy and strong community. It is so hard to choose my favourite thing about Skippers as there are so many wonderful elements, such as the beautiful grounds, Woodland Explorer lessons and fantastic musical theatre opportunities. However if I had to choose, I would say my favourite part is the fantastic staff and the wonderful children who together make the school the happy and nurturing place that it is.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I spend a large part of my spare time catching up with my family and friends. I am extremely passionate about animals, dogs in particular, and enjoy spending my free time walking my Labradors in the countryside with my friends and family! I am also a keen horse rider and enjoy taking my horse out for hacks on the weekends.
