Mrs Kershaw reflects on her First Term

Posted: 19th March 2024

I feel very lucky to be working at Skippers Hill; I have had a wonderful first term here in a clearly very happy school. From the moment I stepped through the door, all the children and staff have been incredibly kind and welcoming.

I love teaching Performing Arts to all the children, from Kindy up to Year 8: they have so much energy and enthusiasm which makes teaching their lessons an absolute pleasure. Not only this, but we have so much talent in the school. This term we have had many, many children involved in ballet exams, ABRSM music exams, as well as  Trinity and Lamda drama exams.

A particular  highlight of this term for the Seniors was being able to be part of the Young Voices choir at the O2 where they sang and behaved impeccably.

Reception and Years 1, 2 and 3 have all performed beautifully  at their VIP afternoons; Millie Gebbie has reached the regional finals of the ESU Performing Shakespeare Competition; the Year 5 & 6 Performing Arts Evening was a resounding success; and rehearsals for ‘Oliver!’ (Years 7 & 8), ‘Archibald’s War’ (Years 3 & 4) and ‘Croak’ (Years 1 & 2) are well underway.

We are very much looking forward to performing these shows to you next term! You should expect lots of show singing and line-learning over the Easter Holidays!
