Early Years Foundation Stage at Skippers Hill is housed in our new and purpose-built Early Years building. The children are involved in a combination of teacher-directed and child-initiated activities, which introduce them gently into school life, establishing solid foundations and encouraging their confidence to learn through exploration. 

Molly Mills, our Kindergarten leader, and Louise Hemsley, our Reception teacher, are both assisted by enthusiastic and dedicated teaching assistants.  Our small class sizes and high staff to pupil ratios ensure that the unique and natural talents of every child are recognised and encouraged from the moment they start at Skippers. Regular parent consultations, individual learning journals and our open door policy ensure that parents are provided with continual updates on their child’s progress.

Joint activities with children in Years 1 and 2, weekly whole school assemblies and events help ensure a seamless transition from Early Years through to Key Stage 1.
