Seniors' Top Block Development

In September 2018, we were delighted to announce that the local authority had approved planning application for four new classrooms to be built at Skippers.

The new classrooms will provide a modern, high quality facility where our pupils can continue first-class education and advance in their studies. Designed very much to blend in with the existing and neighbouring buildings, the classrooms will enhance our rural setting whilst providing modern learning spaces for the children. In addition to excellent IT infrastructure, the spaces are being designed to future proof the development of the school and could have multiple functions over the years, depending upon the needs of the school.

Although the four new classrooms will be predominately used for the senior pupils at Skippers, all pupils in school will benefit from the development as there will be increased capacity within the main school building. Younger year groups will be able to make the most of our best classrooms and additional spaces will be created for pupil and staff well-being.

We are at a stage now where the building of the top block is well underway. The steel and timber framework is almost complete and we are, currently, ahead of schedule for opening in September 2019.

We would like to use this page, in addition to our social media platforms and further school communications, to keep you up to date with all the building work.

The photos below show the development of the building so far; the top left photo shows the most up to date image, working down to where we started the development in the bottom right hand corner.
