Last Thursday, 27th April, nine pupils from Years 7 and 8 competed in the UKMC, the UK's biggest maths competition. They sat an hour long paper here at Skippers at the same time as thousands of other pupils. The year 8 girls reported: "It was a very challenging paper but a good experience!" Although it was a multiple choice paper, candidates risked losing marks if the answer was incorrect, so guessing was not a good strategy for this paper! We await the results...
If you fancy a challenge here's a typical question (no calculators!):
In Shakespeare's play As you Like it Rosalind speaks to Orlando about "He that will divide a minute into a thousand parts". Which of the following is equal to the number of seconds in one thousandth of a minute?
A 0.24, B 0.6, C 0.024, D 0.06, E 0.006
