What fun and games

Construction of the new astro is coming on rapidly.

You may have noticed that our entrance pillar has been remodelled by a reversing truck but accidents will happen!

Monday saw the delivery of 29 massive rolls of shock pad and artificial grass. With immaculate timing, our driver from Leeds arrived with his articulated lorry right at 4.30 p.m. He blocked the lane and had already completed some unintended tree surgery en route!

It also began to rain so I took on a new role as Director of Traffic and smoothed the ruffled feathers of a few locals who had to make detours.

This lorry took three hours to unload and it was pitch black when we finished. Our dedicated workers then reversed the lorry inch by inch back up our lane, stopped all the traffic on the A267 and by 8.30 p.m. they waved goodbye to the resolute driver who was heading for the nearest lay-by for a kip.

Yesterday morning at 0700h we received the next lorry with 20 tonnes of special sand. Our front car park soon resembled a builder’s yard and my wife remonstrated with me as in the afternoon we were staging our first Future Schools’ Exhibition with nine Public Schools setting out their wares.

A rampant Mrs Lewis on the warpath was enough to galvanise the workforce into clearing the decks!

The astro should be finished by the middle of next week which is great news!
