Welcome back to a chilly second half of term!

Welcome back to a chilly second half of term!

At Skippers we believe strongly that listening to pupils and parents is beneficial to the life of the school and indeed to the pupils themselves. Over the years, your feedback has helped inform the development of the school, with the pupils at the heart of this. As you know, we issue surveys to all in our community, as well as providing more personal opportunities to hear your views: we take the feedback seriously.

It is clear from parental surveys that for some years, drop off in the mornings has been an area where you have wanted to to see improvements. Having taken this on board, we have just started the groundwork for a new morning drop off procedure which we hope to launch in the next few weeks. Our aim is to move the drop off process for the senior pupils from the main road, enabling several children to get out of their vehicles at the same time and walk safely into school, away from the flow of the main traffic on the road. This will also ease congestion.

We also recently issued a survey to our new families and I am delighted to report that the response remains extremely positive:

100% of new parents would recommend the school

100% of new parents feel their child has settled well into class

100% of new parents who experienced the induction process felt it was helpful

As one parent within our community has stated: ‘Our son is loving every minute at Skippers’. It is a credit to the existing children that they have welcomed each of our new joiners so readily.

I will of course be writing in due course with further details of how the new drop off process will work in practice but for now, as you see works moving forward in the car park at the rear of the school, you will know what that is all about!

Best wishes,

Mark Hammond.
