The pinnacle of their studies

Posted: 7th June 2018 | Category: Headmaster's Blog, Year 7, Year 8

It seems only 5 minutes since I was wishing you all a happy half-term break and so this week I am writing a brief, but no less meaningful, blog.

What a couple of weeks it has been for our senior pupils! The Year 8’s and, to a slightly lesser extent, the Year 7’s have hardly paused for air. From speaking to parents and pupils this week I know that lots of children spent many hours revising during the break and then launched into their Common Entrance exams this week.

They are nearly over as I write … and most certainly will be by the time you read this. The culmination of two years’ hard graft and the pinnacle of their studies, this experience will stand them in great stead for senior school life. Over the course of the two senior years, children refine their study skills and learn, progressively, how they can each develop strategies to cope with the pressure of exams, all the time in a nurturing environment.

Well done to all the pupils for their efforts, and thanks to all the teachers for the support and guidance they have provided. I am sure that there will be some excellent results in due course and the Year 8’s will - finally but not literally - be able to let their hair down!

Best wishes for a fabulous second half of term which is already rushing us towards the end of another school year!

Mark Hammond.
