Reflecting on our annual Learning Review
Posted: 8th February 2018 | Category: Headmaster's Blog
Thank you to all the staff, pupils and parents who supported our annual Learning Review last week, as well as the visiting team of senior leaders from across the Bellevue group who carried out the review.
The team commented upon how well the staff at Skippers engaged in this peer to peer evaluation of practice within the school, how welcomed they felt by our pupils and the number of good ideas they have decided to take back to their own schools, including our Effective Learner Profile. After this busy and productive half-term, I shall leave you with the summary of strengths the team observed in the school over their two days, and look forward to sharing an updated development plan with the community later in the school year as we continue to reflect, self-evaluate and progress.
- A huge strength of the school is the relationships between pupils and also between staff and pupils. This impacts positively upon all aspects of school life
- Teacher knowledge of pupils means the individual is certainly cherished
- Pupils’ self-belief allows them to approach their learning with confidence and enthusiasm
- All staff are working towards a common aim to develop the children’s full potential
- Pupil engagement in lessons and year groups is excellent
- High level of opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom for all pupils
- Positive relationships with parents assist children’s learning and overall school experience
- The learning experience is enhanced by the impressive outside facilities, the high quality of the teaching assistants and initiatives driven by new staff and emerging leaders
Have a great half-term break, and if you are skiing, please don’t break anything (especially staff!).
Best wishes,
Mark Hammond.
