How to be an ‘Effective Learner’

Posted: 4th October 2017 | Category: Year 8

As mentioned in Mr Hammond's blog the Year 8s put together a brilliant assembly on Monday, the topic was 'How To Be An Effective Learner'.
They wrote a script for the classroom scenarios where one pupil would demonstrate each quality or lack thereof. Halfway through, the audience was asked for comments on their behaviour and attitude and were quick to point out the shortcomings of the Year 8s.

They then repeated the scene showing great learning attitudes/attributes and finally stood holding the Effective Learner qualities for all to see, as the narrators explained what they had just seen.  The comparison enabled the younger students to understand the very clear message.

An effective learner in our school is:
Curious
Adaptable
Resilient
Self-disciplined
Engaged
Reflective
Positive
Challenge seeking

Thank you Year 8, a wonderful Assembly!
