Future Success

Posted: 9th November 2018 | Category: Headmaster's Blog

Although it is still very early in the academic year, our senior pupils and parents are very focused on future schools at the moment as they start the process of sitting entrance exams, preparing for scholarships and revising for mock exams. Much of my time is spent writing personalised references and speaking to the admissions teams and Heads of Senior Schools, ensuring that the varied talents and individual strengths of each of our pupils are made clear to prospective schools. During the past two weeks, Skippers has hosted two events to support parents and pupils make informed choices: the Senior Years at Skippers and our Future Schools Event, which you can read about below.

Skippers is one of the only schools in the area that enables the pupils themselves to visit the event and speak directly to the schools’ representatives. I believe strongly that if you trust children to represent themselves, and their school, they always rise to the occasion. Whether it is touring with visiting parents on an Open Morning or engaging in an event like this, visitors to the school always speak highly of the way our pupils conduct themselves: with maturity, enthusiasm and confidence.

As our alumni testify elsewhere in this newsletter, Skippers provides a great platform for future success. Given the time and effort that Senior Schools take to connect with our community, Skippers pupils are rightly held in high regard. As the nights draw in, such positive feedback brings me both pride and warmth and highlights how lucky we are to have such super young people in our school.

Best wishes,

Mark Hammond.
