Early Years Getting Ready for Christmas

Posted: 28th November 2014 | Category: Kindergarten

The Early Years department has been busy gearing up for Christmas.  Paint, glitter and tinsel is, quite literally, coating the floors and the teachers!  We are in the midst of our Nativity rehearsals and do hope all the families have now booked their seats for our ‘Christmas with the Early Years’ production, which takes place at 11am on Tuesday 2nd December.  And if seeing your gorgeous little ones is not enough of an inducement away from your usual Tuesday activities, mince pies and tea will be served to our guests after the performance.  We look forward to welcoming you all.

Some of the Reception class mummies joined us last week to help the children with their ‘Christmas Makes’.  This is a long-standing Skippers tradition and has always been well-supported by the Reception families, so it is lovely to see this continue.

The mums brought in some polystyrene cups, pre-cut felt pieces, pipe-cleaners, googly eyes, jam jars and, most important of all, some marshmallows!  With intense concentration (the children) and great patience (the mums), they helped the children assemble these items…the children even managed to stop themselves from eating the marshmallows! All of a sudden, a plethora of Olaf the Marshmallow Snowmen appeared before us!

The children are very excited that their parents will be buying their own child’s Olaf at the Christmas Fayre on Saturday 29th November.  All the staff are very much looking forward to seeing all the Skippers pupils and their families at the Fayre - do come and say hello to us all!
