21st Century Staff

Posted: 31st March 2020 | Category: Headmaster's Blog

It has been a remarkable few weeks for all in our community and it is at these times that the true nature of a school community is tested to the limit: I have to say that Skippers has risen to the challenge admirably and is at the forefront of remote learning! During my end of term assembly I always ask the children to thank their teachers and staff for the hard work and dedication they show and as I have been denied the opportunity this term, I would like to do so now.

As you know, the school has been working hard over the past year to review and reform the curriculum to promote 21st Century Skills for our pupils. In the past few weeks the teachers and staff at Skippers have had to exemplify this skill set in spades! I cannot praise the team highly enough for their resilience, creativity and adaptability. Rarely have I seen such outstanding team work, collaboration and real-world problem solving. Innovative, professional and ethical - I cannot praise the staff at Skippers highly enough.

It is always a risk highlighting individuals when such an amazing team effort has been evident but my particular thanks go to Mr Tier, who has been a remarkable resource for the staff and has been labouring away behind the scenes to ensure our remote learning platforms work. I would also like to praise the leadership and direction that Mr Minister, Mrs Pincott and Mr Leggett have provided and the support they have shown me as we have transformed our offer in a matter of days!

I am truly inspired and humbled by what staff, pupils and parents have achieved in the past few weeks and I wish you all well at this difficult time. Stay safe, stay connected and I look forward to ‘seeing’ you all after the Easter break!

Best wishes,

Mark Hammond.
