Years 7 and 8 Prepare for ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’

Posted: 1st July 2013 | Category: Drama, Year 7, Year 8

The children in Years 7 and 8 are busily preparing for their production of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', which was adapted from the Shakespeare 4 Kidz by Julian Chenery, Matt Gimblett and William Shakespeare.

All of the children in Years 7 and 8 are involved with the production, either on stage or behind the scenes in a technical role.  The leading roles will be performed by Skippers’ music and drama scholars.

Rehearsals began shortly after the Year 8 Dorset Trip and the performers have done well to overcome rehearsal schedule conflicts with swimming galas, county sports meets, rounders and cricket matches, singing exams and illnesses.

We are planning to hold the performances outside on the 'natural' stage, which holds huge demands for the technical crew who will need to position and control the microphones and music.  Fingers are being crossed for warm weather.

The children and staff have all worked hard and we hope to be able to put on a great show.

For anyone who cannot make the evening performances, but who would like to watch the performance, there is a dress rehearsal on Wednesday 3rd July, in the afternoon.
