Years 5 & 6 ‘Circle the World’ With Their Musical Concert

Posted: 7th December 2012 | Category: Year 5, Year 6

On Monday 19th November, parents were welcomed aboard Flight 56 by Captain McConachie for Year 5 and 6’s musical journey, ‘Circle the World’.

Over 100 ‘passengers’  settled down for some in-flight entertainment, which began with just a small amount of turbulence (a few nerves in front of so many passengers), before everyone was flying high and enjoying themselves tremendously.

The pupils from Years 5 and 6 entertained their audience with some wonderful songs from around the world: ‘Kalinka’; ‘No Other Moon’ from Brazil; a rousing version of ‘Waltzing Matilda’; ‘Sailing’, and finished off with ‘White Cliffs of Dover’.

As they journeyed over New Zealand, the audience was greeted by the Maori Haka, which was very intimidating indeed, with lots of eye-contact and face-pulling.

Needing some calming after this episode, the next stop was Africa, where passengers were soothed with the lullaby, ‘Souale’.

Not allowing them to slumber for long, the Captain then flew over the West Indies for a lively performance of ‘The Boneyard Rap’ and to North America to hear ‘The Song of Hiawatha’.

Landing safely back at Skippers Hill, the passengers requested one more rendition of ‘Alouette’ before they disembarked. This time they were made to join in, with Francesca leading the way with the actions.

It was a wonderful journey for passengers, crew and entertainers alike!
