Years 1 and 2 enjoyed a visiting interactive storytelling workshop

Posted: 8th November 2017 | Category: Year 1, Year 2, Years 1 & 2

Years 1 and 2 enjoyed a visiting interactive storytelling workshop at school on Thursday 2nd November.

Pupils and staff were all dressed in costume for these action-packed workshops about these two fascinating periods of history.  They involved role-playing, story-telling, and a few "surprises" to make them jump!  Year 1 explored their new topic, The Gunpowder Plot, learning lots about the year 1605 and the events leading up to The Gunpowder Plot itself.

The children experienced feelings, thoughts and emotions of those who plotted against the king.  Year 2 consolidated their learning about their completed topic,The Great Fire of London, learning more about the historical context in which the fire occurred and role-playing to discover how challenging it was to put the fire out with the rudimentary equipment and communications available at the time.

The children have talked of little else since and would love you to take a look at the photos from the day!
