Year 8’s Outstanding Speech and Drama Exam Success
Posted: 26th April 2013 | Category: Drama, Year 8
Skippers Hill has now received the very impressive results from their LAMDA exams in Verse and Prose or Spoken English, which 70 Skippers pupils from Years 1- 8 sat last term.
Our pupils well exceeded the National Average for distinctions, which is between 10% and 15%, with 50% of the children being awarded distinction and a further 49% being awarded a merit.
Eight of the Year 8 pupils took their Grade 6 Bronze Medal which, with regard to UCAS points, qualifies as the same standard as GCSE. Two of these pupils were awarded high merits and six were awarded distinctions. Arabella and Beatrice were each awarded 92 marks, to which the Head of Drama at Eastbourne College commented:
“Distinctions are not always easy to come by and 92 is pretty convincing by anyone’s standards!”

The Skippers Hill pupils’ success continued at the East Grinstead Music Festival last weekend, when they received the three top places in the Under 13 Musical Theatre:
1st: Beatrice
2nd: (joint) Eliza
3rd: Jemima
Well done, everyone!
