Year 7 Enjoy ‘Le Weekend’ en France

Undeterred by forecasts of 40 mph winds and constant rain, Year 7 bounded into school at 6.45am on a dark October Friday and piled onto the minibuses that would take them under the channel to Boulogne and Le Touquet.

Having been nearly blown over on Le Touquet beach, we retreated inland to the Accrobranche (Go Ape) where the Year 7s showed themselves to be not only up for a challenge themselves, but supportive of each other and encouraging where encouragement was needed.

One thing that characterised this trip was the fabulous 'get on with it' attitude of all the pupils: with no whinging about rooms or buses or activities, they were determined to enjoy themselves, and clearly did.

French was spoken in the market and with the instructors at Go Ape and pupils visibly grew in confidence over the two days.  Nausicaa is a real highlight of the trip and despite having seen Blue Planet and the like, our photos give you just a taste of the wonder we all felt at seeing sharks, sea lions and rays at close hand.

Of course, huge thank yous go to Mike, Frances and Mr Tier for their enthusiasm and care for the children.
