Year 6 Sing Their Hearts Out at Eastbourne College

On Tuesday 24th September, eight Year 6 singers from Senior Choir went on an outing to Eastbourne College for their annual SING! Day.

They joined 130 children from other schools and spent the day learning to sing new songs, making new friends and enjoying the wonderful facilities and teaching of the staff in the Eastbourne College music department.

The challenge was learning six completely new pieces of music - some of which was to be sung in two parts - in one day ready to perform in a concert to parents at the end of the day. All the children engaged brilliantly with the singing and rose to the challenge; performing the songs with confidence and great enjoyment, and learning much about choral singing over the course of the day.

Despite the torrential rain the children's spirits were never dampened and it was heartwarming to hear so many children singing brilliantly together.

It was a very enjoyable day and a wonderful learning opportunity for those children to engage in learning different styles of music and develop their choral singing skills alongside children from other schools.
