Here’s to our Best Season Ever

Only two weeks into the Autumn term and sport at Skippers has got off to a roaring start! Our sports department is stronger than ever and we are really proud to be able to offer such a wide range of opportunities and coaching expertise. It is wonderful to see the children's enthusiasm for sport and their amazing progress, thanks to some first-class coaching and lots of fun along the way!

We have some excellent new additions to the sports department this year. Firstly Ben Barden and Ben Martin, who both play competitive hockey at local clubs. We have dance enthusiast Beth Beazleigh, and multi-sport teachers Holly Barnett and Jessica Newton-May. They are all helping to coach both the boys' and the girls' teams.

The girls have more hockey teams than ever before and have plenty of matches and tournaments to look forward to. We are currently sending out three U13/12 teams, five U11/10 teams and three U9/8 teams!

The boy's football teams are similarly strong in numbers; we have two U13/12 teams, three U11/10 teams and three U9 teams.

The boys have had a strong start to the football season. The U11s attended a tournament in Ardingly, and beat St. Cristophers and Pennthorpe to finish second in the group stages. After being beaten narrowly by Great Walstead in the final 16 playoffs we went into the plate determined to win some silverware!

After some incredible football from all teams involved, we beat Brambletye and Westbourne and went on to play Dorset House in the final. Dorset House put the pressure on early but we counter-attacked well. The final score was 2-0 to Skippers. This meant that Skippers left with the Plate and an infectious enthusiasm to see what else they can win this year. In addition, the U10 boys came runners-up in the plate in the football tournament at Bede's Senior School.

Keep up the enthusiasm everyone and here's to our best season ever!
