U10A and U13B meet strong opposition in hockey

Posted: 6th November 2017

This week the U10A and U13B went on the long trip to Great Walstead and competed against some very strong opposition.

The U13B team had Milly Bennett to thank for a number of great saves and were very mature and sensible when organising their positions and leading their own half time team chat. Some very enthusiastic tackling and running from Issi Drake gave Skippers a couple of opportunities, however the competition was too much and a very strong Great Walstead team ended up victorious.

The U10A team had a mixed day. They took an early lead with some great attacking play and excellent tackling, but this was short lived. Great Walstead battled back and were able to hold their positions well, eventually leading to three goals in quick succession. We found ourselves 3-1 down at half time. A couple of changes and a quick confidence boost saw a revitalised Skippers team come out in the second half, Erin White managed to complete her hat-trick, but unfortunately the Great Walstead team managed to score 2 further goals. The final score was 5-3.
They completed their afternoon with a 6-0 win against the Great Walstead U10B team, with some great goals from Annabel Willcocks, Lizzie Price and Erin White. A superb victory against some tough opposition.

The girls certainly improved throughout the day learning from each game and were rewarded at the end of the afternoon with sausage and chips, a great treat.
