Team Building and Bonding

5:45 on a Friday afternoon…school's out and camp begins!!

The Year 7 and 8 pupils eagerly drag their kit down the long steep hill with just one question on their minds…who will be sleeping in my tent?

No time to answer questions, there was work to be done! We had 14 tents to erect all before any games, food or fun could commence. The tents were up (finally) and the big announcement was made. Happy campers!

The belongings were unpacked, beds made for the first and last time and not-so-secret plans to share and consume the not-so-secret midnight feast items discussed. (Teachers know!).

All good camps need a campfire, so the campers were sent off to collect wood for the fire and logs to sit on – no chairs allowed.

After a hearty BBQ perfectly cooked by Mr Hammond, the campers joined in a collection of traditional campfire songs extending voices well beyond the school grounds (sorry neighbours).

Time to set them free into the dark abyss. A few games of man-hunt and lighthouse proved extremely popular as did the hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows around the campfire before bedtime.

Following a hearty breakfast, it was time to pack away and go home to get some sleep (that was just the staff!).

Thanks to all the staff for their help to run a most successful event and also to the pupils who not only had a fantastic time bonding with their peers but behaved beautifully.
