Sport Gets Off To A Flying Start

Only three weeks into the Autumn term and sport at Skippers has got off to a roaring start! We have welcomed Archie Gibb into the sports department, which has helped to broaden the range of expertise into the team. As a result we are really proud to be able to offer an extensive range of clubs at Skippers Hill this term: fencing, mountain biking, athletics, fitness, rugby, football, hockey and swimming clubs after school this term. It is wonderful to see another record breaking number of pupils attending after school clubs, and their enthusiasm for sport has been infectious.

It's been a great start to the term for both the boys and girls sports teams, with almost all children having played in either a tournament or a match this term. The new joiners at the school have added even more skill and athletisim to our teams across the board, which bodes well for the football, rugby, hockey, netball, cricket and athletic seasons.

The boys season has started with lots of tournaments with some tough opposition. Firstly the U13/12 boys represented Skippers Hill at the Bedes 7 a-side tournament where they finished third out of five in the group but were elimiated in the plate semi finals. Several star players from the U9 team joined the U10s when they travelled to Bedes for another 7 a-side tournament where they played some exceptional football. They came third out of five in their group before being knocked out in the plate semi finals. On the same day the U11s came second out of five in the group stages but were knocked out in the cup quarter finals in their tournament at Ardingly College.

The girls have had huge success in their hockey matches so far, winning ten out of fourteen of their matches. Some particularly noteworthy wins against Marlborough House and Hilden Grange have got the girls buzzing with excitement as they scored close to 30 goals over the two days of fixtures. It was amazing to see all Skippers pupils getting stuck in and representing the school in such a professional manner, as well as enjoying themselves and having fun with their friends.

Keep up the enthusiasm everyone and here's to our best season ever!
