Skippers Street Art in the Community

Posted: 11th February 2015

Bridge cottage is a Medieval Wealden hall in Uckfield built in 1436.
It is currently being renovated and the site is surrounded by hoardings.
Skippers is one of the eight schools invited to take part in an Art activity to create a 4ft x 8ft collage depicting their school to be displayed on these hoardings.
The collage is based on the work of local artist, John Piper, and the interior designs of Charleston Farmhouse.
On Tuesday 10th February we had an Art Day involving Years 3 - 8, each class contributing in some way towards the finished piece.
Painting, printing, photography, collage, tissue paper, detailed drawings, all came together to create a colourful, spectacular depiction of our School.
We would like to thank Nicola Pharoh for being the driving force of the design, Jane Gregory-Lilley and Annabelle for their help throughout the day, Jane Fisher (a previous Art teacher at Skippers) for returning and sharing her expertise and the children who worked so hard to create all the elements that came together in the final wonderful result.

We hope you will get the chance to go and see the Art Work once it is on show.
