‘Sing’ at Eastbourne College

Posted: 26th November 2014 | Category: Year 6, Year 7

Nine members of Years 6 and 7 were invited to join pupils from 9 other Prep schools for a day-long event simply called Sing!  And ‘sing’ we did, except when we were eating, of course.

Under the excellent leadership of their Director of Music, Mr Parrans-Smith, and the Head of Academic Music, Mr Force, we were led through a variety of songs from stage shows to popular and seasonal music.  With such a diverse programme, the students soon became less self-conscious and rose to the challenge of learning six songs, most of them arranged for two-part choir.

After lunch – “the food was fantastic” – the pupils were whisked away by a number of members of staff and senior prefects.  They miraculously re-appeared from various quarters of the school having had a great time taking part in a number of activities from Pool Fun and Basketball to Drama and Art – a decorated and painted pottery plate.  Alice returned with a flashing-light badge she had made in D&T and Freddie had shot all his targets in paint-balling, overseen by the CCF at the school.

Then back to the serious business of rehearsing the songs ready for the final performance for the parents – and more food.  (I think a record was set for clearing plates of sandwiches and cakes!)

Thank you to all the parents who were able to join us for the concert.  I hope you enjoyed listening to our performance as much as we enjoyed singing.  By the end of the day all the pupils were exhausted.  The return journey in the mini bus was incredibly peaceful!
