Year 8 Prepare Younger Pupils for the Senior Years

Year 8 Prepare Younger Pupils for the Senior Years

On the 20th June, Year 8 hosted a workshop for children in Years 5 and 6; the pupils worked in small groups and chose a topic they wanted to talk about to prepare for when they are in the Senior Years at Skippers.

The pupils in Year 8 spent a lot of time creating a slide presentation and leaflets which they gave to all the pupils after their discussions.

The workshop took place in the gym where each group had a station; every five minutes, the Year 5 and 6 children swapped around each group. In the groups, the pupils talked about a specific topic. Some of the topics discussed included, ‘How to be a Prefect’, ‘Helping out with the younger years’, ‘Sport’ and ‘Taking care of a computer’.

It was an enjoyable afternoon, and not only did it benefit the younger years, but it also benefitted Year 8 as the pupils worked hard as a team and had to clearly communicate their thoughts and ideas.
