Year 5 Pupils Become Romans for the Day

Last week, eight very excited Year 5 pupils set off with Mrs Anderson on a "Rome, sweet, Rome " day held at Worth School.

After a good bus trip, the children enjoyed a walk through the beautiful grounds and made their way to the School Office.

The children completed a fun warm up exercise, then set off to the main school for a History hands on activity, where they had great fun dressing up as Romans and played board games like they would have done in Roman times.

The Head of Classics was very informative and taught the children plenty of fun facts. The children then had a small break for some Roman delicacies - very hard biscuits and scrumptious figs. Next, it was to Geography for a lesson on Mt Versuvius which again was very interesting.

All the children especially enjoyed wearing goggles and making exploding volcanos - definitely one of the highlights of the day. The most enjoyable may have, however, been the stencil art work that the children completed and can't wait to receive in the post as they had to leave it there to dry!

A very Roman day had by all!
