Reception visit Scotney Castle
Posted: 24th May 2016 | Category: Reception
On Tuesday 24th May,in bright sunshine, nineteen children and six courageous adults ventured forth from Skippers, securely strapped into two minibuses. That alone would have been an exciting enough experience - just driving around the lane and back again - but we went even further; we went to Scotney Castle!
Even though we had been looking at pictures and videos of the castle in preparation for our trip, we were unprepared for the beauty and scale of the gardens. Jackie and I were very proud of the Reception children as we explored the Discovery Centre, the partially ruined castle with bridges and a moat, the old ice house and the quarry gardens. The children behaved so well and were polite and considerate to other visitors.
Lunch was a much-anticipated affair, when more parents joined us for a picnic in the sunshine before we packed up the buses for the journey home. We would like to thank all the lovely parents who joined us for helping to make it a special and memorable day for Reception!
