Great Excitement Receiving Letters From Penpals

Despite being apart at this time, Skippers pupils have been busy putting pen to paper creating new connections and friendships with children in different year groups.

This week saw the first set of penpal letters virtually delivered via form tutors to children in Years 3 and 4 from our senior children. Year 5 and 6 will also be joining in the fun and sending off their letters this week to the younger years.

It was brilliant to see the excitement on the faces of pupils as they were paired up with others in the school:  the children got straight to work introducing themselves and offering their own “top secret tips” for dealing with remote learning and being away from friends. Popular topics of conversation have also included pets, favourite movies and book recommendations!

All of the letters have been carefully handwritten and decorated by pupils; it is hoped that they will not only provide a chance for Skippers to remain connected in lockdown times, but also provide a break from screens, a chance for new friendships to blossom and of course the perfect opportunity to perfect handwriting techniques until we can all be reunited on site once again!
