It was wonderful to welcome our Skippers pupils back to school three weeks ago as everyone was so excited to be back, particularly the teachers!
The playground and building have been once again alive with the sounds of pupils laughing and chattering, it is this energy that is at the heart of who we are at Skippers that we have all missed so much.
We are extremely proud of how resilient and positive our pupils have been throughout the unprecedented period of lockdown. From coping with school closure and the absence of dear friends to migrating into the world of online school (again), the pupils have, without exception, embraced every stage with an impressive attitude.
For some pupils the return to school presented a tinge of nervousness with the transition back to school. What we have ensured here at Skippers is to build in plenty of down time using relaxation and recharging whether this be through play, games or socialising allowing them the time to re energise and feel a sense of community back into their day to day lives
It has been so much fun watching our pupils fully immerse themselves in all that has been on offer. It was great joining in with our year 3 - 8 Skipping Workshop last week when Dan the skipping man came to visit. And this week's entertainer, Crazee Hazee, came and lifted our spirits with magic shows for the little ones and a circus skills workshop for the older ones to send us on our way for the Easter holidays.
What has been clear is that the school is full of resilient, resourceful people and I am extremely proud of the whole Skippers community in dealing with these difficult times.
Enjoy your Easter break and we all look forward to seeing you all at the beginning of the Summer term.
