Maths Comes Alive for Year 6 in Tesco
Posted: 16th January 2019

For some Year 6 children last week, their Maths lesson wasn't in the classroom but at Tesco in Crowborough. The visit was planned to consolidate the work linked to decimals and money which the children have been learning recently.
As the children went around the store, they were given mathematical problems to solve which they did in groups of 3 or 4. This helped bring an abstract concept of decimals, to life.
Learning Maths should be fun and it is important to bring the subject alive for pupils whether, in problem-solving, practical work or looking at Maths in everyday real-life situations. This trip covered it all!
The children were brilliant - who knew a trip to Tesco could be so much fun.
