Kindness Rules at Skippers

Last week, all children throughout the school celebrated Anti-Bullying Week. The theme of this year’s week was ‘Choose Respect’ and its aim was to support both children and adults to contemplate the following:

On Monday, we had the privilege of having our own Year 8 pupils lead a respect-themed anti-bullying assembly. The pupils here engaged in two days of innovative and thought-provoking discussions with Kate Daniels, our visiting speaker.

Our Reception pupils watched a story called 'Something Else', based around kindness; they were then able to retell the story to each other.

Year 1 and Year 3 pupils produced some beautiful and striking posters on kindness, whilst other pupils showed how positive they could be by posting anonymous messages on our 'Pay a compliment to a friend' board.

It is important not to let this focus week message tail off, so the whole school is embarking on a kindness advent calendar starting on December 1st (so do look out for these acts of kindness popping up at home).

Skippers' anti-bullying (and cyber-bullying) policy is one of our most important policies and, as such, it is reviewed regularly. Our School Council, with members from every form groups, is also involved, to ensure that everyone has a part to play and a stake in promoting positive, happy and healthy relationships amongst pupils (and staff!) of all ages.
