‘Freedom’ a poem by Joseph Scott Year 8

Posted: 4th October 2017 | Category: Year 8, Years 5 to 8

Freedom
Freedom is the feeling of
Calm, of happiness, of glee.
Freedom is the sight of the moon,
The stars, of beautiful white light.
Freedom is the time of holidays,
Of celebration, of days without school.
Freedom is a withheld right to the slave,
a luxury to the liberated,
an undeserved privilege to the terrorist.
Freedom is a possession to few
And a desire to many. If only we all had it,
Imagine the wonderful world we would live
In then?
Freedom is the right to do all within reason,
To feel what we please, to think what we want,
Freedom is the lifeblood of democracy,
Of equality, of all well- run Countries.
Freedom takes place at the hour of the
Prison door opening, the chain snapping,
And on the day of the released bird
flying into the sky.
“Those who deny freedom to
Others deserve it not for themselves”

Joseph Scott Year 8
