Food Glorious Food

Food Glorious Food

Just before half term, Year 2 spent an exciting week exploring 'Food, Glorious Food!' as part of their 'Let's Explore' topic. We began in Science by learning about the importance of a balanced diet and hobbies and activities that help us keep our bodies and minds healthy. Our visit to Wagamama Restaurant, Tunbridge Wells was a highlight of the week and enabled us to learn about foods and cooking methods from the Japanese culture. We tried a variety of juices made from fresh fruit and vegetables - with the ginger and carrot juice resulting in some comical faces! We learned about the different wok stations and practised using traditional chopsticks, before tucking into a meal of noodles and vegetables that we had weighed out ourselves for the chefs to cook. Back at school, we each wrote a lovely thank you letter to the Wagamama team, ensuring we used the traditional greeting and sign off. We rounded off our week of food by making pitta bread pizzas, which we ate for lunch - they tasted delicious!
