Fantastic Results for Skippers from UKMT Maths Challenge

Congratulations to the eleven Skippers pupils who are celebrating following their recent success in the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust Junior Challenge. 

The challenge, which is aimed at the top third of pupils in Year 8 and below in England, Wales and the equivalent years in Northern Ireland and Scotland, involves a series of mathematical problems with a twist - if you get one of the answers incorrect, points are deducted.

Head of Mathematics, David Pollard, said “24 of our more able mathematicians were entered, all of whom performed extremely well.  Our pupils gained two gold, four silver and five bronze awards, three being taken by Year 7 pupils.  This challenge gives Skippers the opportunity to show that a small school really can produce exceptional mathematicians.”
