Early Years Enjoy Teddy Bears Picnic

Early Years Enjoy Teddy Bears Picnic

During a week of torrential rain and thunderstorms, we all had our fingers and toes crossed on Tuesday 18th June.

Sandwiches were made, the cricket pavilion was cleared and rugs and toys were loaded into the minibus to be transported down to the lower field. A short shower at 10.00 am was followed by some tentative sunshine and the picnic was on!

Every child carried a furry friend as they skipped down the hill, joined by parents and friends carrying their picnic baskets. As we reached the picnic site we were greeted by the brave senior pupils who had volunteered to be helpers, which had nothing to do with the sandwiches, cookies and strawberries on offer for lunch, of course.

Then it was time for play. What to choose first? Parachute games, giant building blocks, ball games, bubble chasing and hunt the teddy were all there to be enjoyed. The Reception children also played football with their Year 6 friends.

The rain stayed away until we had all finished playing and eating, just as we had hoped. Thank you to all our visitors for coming to join us for one of our most loved summer events, and we hope you are able to join us again next year.
