Common Entrance Success in Year 8

As the pupils in Year 8 approach the end of the academic year and their time at Skippers, a pupil in Year 8 has written a short piece on their experience of the Common Entrance exams and what Year 8 have to look forward to for the rest of the Summer term.

Common Entrance is a set of examinations taken by boys and girls for entrance to senior independent schools at 11+ or 13+.

Here at Skippers, throughout Year 7 and 8, we start learning the curriculum for Common Entrance, and by the time of our exams, we are fully prepared. This year with the help of our amazing teachers, all of Year 8 have been accepted into their first choice of senior schools with high grades across the range of subjects. Together we achieved: 12 A*, 34 A, and 47 B grades!

Throughout the two year period, the teachers were strict on homework but we had sessions about managing stress and they really helped us to keep going.

Now that we have completed the exams and received our results, we have a range of fun activities planned for us. These include, a day trip to Chessington, tickets to Eastbourne Tennis, a beach clean up, a day at Chailey foundation and a pool party.

Thank you very much Skippers!
