Congratulations to our able Mathmaticians
Posted: 16th June 2015
Once again Skippers was well represented in the UKMT Maths Challenge. This year a dozen of our very capable mathematicians took part in the challenge.
The Junior Challenge is aimed at pupils in Year 8 or below in England and Wales. The challenge involves answering 25 multiple choice questions in one hour and is sat in school under normal exam conditions. The top 40% of students nationally receive a gold, silver or bronze certificate in the ratio 1:2:3 and each institution receives a Best in School certificate.
I am delighted to announce that Emily in Year 7 and Verity in Year 8 will soon receive bronze certificates for their efforts, with Emily additionally receiving best in year. Sam A and Francesca in Year 8 secured golds, Francesca also receives best in year as well as best in school.
This year has seen the introduction of The Junior Kangaroo, a follow on round to the UKMT challenge and at the time of writing we are eagerly awaiting the results of this round which both Sam and Francesca were invited to participate in following their outstanding performances.
Congratulations to all that participated.
