Chance to Win a Golden Ticket

Chance to Win a Golden Ticket

Roald Dahl is one of the world's most loved children's authors, and Roald Dahl Story Day is celebrated worldwide annually on 13th September. In this week’s assembly we learnt that Roald Dahl was most definitely a challenge seeker and led a fantastic, varied and exciting life before he began writing. To mark his birthday there have been several events taking place around Skippers, as well as marvellous medicine pots, giant crocodiles and chocolate factories appearing on the campus!

Year 8 acted out some scenes from their favourite, well-loved tales and asked some of their teachers who their favourite characters were. This was all compiled into a short film by Alfie S. They also felt it was the perfect opportunity to create a surprise house competition and have set pupils across the school the challenge of designing a new Roald Dahl book cover or illustrating their favourite character. There are some tremendous treats up for grabs: the winner will receive a copy of Roald Dahl’s Heroes and Villains as well as a Golden Ticket to become Head of Skippers for the morning!

We hope the children have been inspired to pick up a new book this week, and look forward to receiving all of the entries to find our Golden Ticket winner!
