Cake Sale money to Miss Newton - May’s Charity
Posted: 9th December 2020

As you are all aware an amazing £480 was raised from our cake sale before half term. It has been decided that the money raised will go to 'Evelina's Ronald Mcdonald house'. This is a' home from home' where families can stay when their child is being treated at the Evelina London Children's hospital. Miss Newton - May stayed their when baby Violet was in hospital shortly after she was born.
Here is her response when she heard that we were donating the money to the charity.
Dear Skippers,
Thank you so much for raising such a huge amount of money from your bake sale. I was overjoyed to hear that you had chosen to donate it to one of the charities which provided us with accommodation during Violet's time in hospital. We were able to stay a 5 minute walk away from the hospital which meant that we could go & see Violet any time while she was in intensive care. Although it still wasn't easy, it was a huge relief that we had secure accommodation & meant we had one less thing to worry about. It also meant that we were able to sleep & eat properly during her time in hospital.
The Evelina Ronald Mcdonald house will be thrilled with your donation. It will mean that more families, like us, can stay close to their poorly children. They made sure we were very well looked after & I am grateful for the support that they gave us, that you have made possible.
I am enjoying being at home with my baby but am very much looking forward to returning to life at Skippers soon. I miss you all!
Love from Miss Newton-May & Violet x
