After so long apart, we are having a real focus on speaking skills in French this term, mainly building confidence but also going back to basics with phonics.
During lockdown, MFL teachers up and down the country experimented with new technology and lots have generously shared great ideas through blogs, social media and conferences.
We have been making use of one of these in Y5 and Y7, recording and uploading video clips using Flipgrid: this has been really motivational and fun, taking some of the shyness away from performing.
Year 6 have also been creating videos of themselves showing a French visitor round Skippers: they have been imaginative, making sock puppets and blooper reels, and at one point a couple of dinosaurs showed up (I don't think they were supposed to be the teachers but I'm not sure...).
With so much creativity, they almost forget they are speaking French! It is great to see the children getting stuck into their language learning and putting the ICT skills and independence gained in lockdown to good practical use.
I'm very proud of them all and so glad to be back in the classroom!
