A warm welcome to Laura Collins

Posted: 10th February 2016

We are delighted to welcome Laura Collins to the Skippers team. If you haven't had the chance to meet her please make sure you say hello. We asked Laura to write a few words to introduce herself:

I have been teaching for 12 years, in both the maintained and independent sectors. For the last 4 years, I have been a Maths specialist at Woodlands Junior School in Tonbridge but after working at Claremont Preparatory School when my children were younger, I had always hoped to return to the independent sector. When the opportunity arose to teach my other passion, English, I jumped at the chance and joined the Skippers' Hill staff. I am married with two boys of 19 and 16. Both went to Claremont Preparatory School and then on to Cranbrook and Skinners' respectively, so I feel that I have a good understanding of the unique aspects of preparatory school education as well as the grammar school sector. My first half term at Skippers Hill has flown by and, thanks to some very keen children and friendly staff, I am very much enjoying being part of a warm, family school once again.
