A Great Start to Early Years at Skippers!

Posted: 13th November 2012 | Category: EYFS, Kindergarten

The term has started with excitement and enthusiasm amongst both the pupils and the staff in the Early Years at Skippers.  The children in Reception and Kindergarten have settled in wonderfully and last term's Kindergarten are feeling very much at home in Reception.

As well as learning though playing with all the wonderful resources available to choose from in both classrooms and Early Years Outdoor Area, the children have been exploring the beautiful school grounds.  The woodlands in particular have been a source of great adventures where the children have been learning about different trees and building dens.  Some of Reception's maths lessons have even taken place in this inspiring environment!

The Early Years team of Louise Hemsley, Molly Mills, Sue Reis and Jackie Parker,  headed by Mr Lewis,  welcomed parents to an Early Years Curriculum Evening shortly after term began.  The evening was a great success, with parents  commenting afterwards that "there is clearly a very high level of expertise within the department" and that they found the presentations "inspiring".  It also proved to be a great opportunity for parents to meet one another, if they hadn't already, as well as to chat with the staff.

To round off a super start to the term, the Kindergarten was officially opened on 21st September, with the whole school turning out for the occasion and cupcakes were enjoyed by all!
