What a pleasure to see numerous football fans from many nations appear in Brazil on the 28th November and the only police presence was 5,500 miles away in London and a half century earlier!
Rapper members of the press, women footballers, an aging Pele, grandfathers full of football nostalgia, teenagers bored of these repeated stories, the history of the world cup.... It was all here and what a fantastic time the children of Year 5 had preparing for their show. The comical scene where the families of West Aukland had to sell all their possessions to fund their trip to Italy - ‘you’d look beautiful anything dear’. So many cameo moments.
All those words to learn but they were not going to be defeated! Their singing was stunning and full of energy and they were so engaged in the whole performance that their enthusiasm lit up the Gym.
A huge thank you to Miss Puttock and Mrs Ringrose for all their support and you, the parents, for supporting your children in learning their words and songs, for providing costumes and being in the audience to watch the story unfold.
