Pupils' Work: Years 3 & 4

Year 3

Year 3 have been learning all about the Ancient Egyptians this term. They have produced some fantastic pieces of writing including an adapted version of the Egyptian Cinderella (one of the oldest Cinderella stories) and a persuasive letter to Cinderella's master asking for permission to go to the Pharaoh's party. They have also created some wonderful artwork; they carefully designed and then painted their own sarcophagi and have even tried their hand at drawing some hieroglyphics. They have also loved learning about the more gruesome parts of the topic including mummification! The children have been able to make comparisons with the Stone Age, their topic last term, and have been able to see how different civilisations developed.

Year 4

In English, Year 4 are studying the story of The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. Letters to the seagulls have been written from the Iron Man persuading them to give him his ear back and 4H put their team skills into practice to make a rather large model of the Iron Man. They then added character description from the text which tied in with their work on smilies. As a cross-curricular link with their science topic, electricity, Freddie R and Fred A, made a series circuit which was added to the model to make his rather scary red eyes light up!
